Impact Testers

Instron impact testers are used to characterize the impact performance of various materials and componants - from plastics to finished goods. These impact testing systems utilize various technologies to deliver impact forces - including pendulum styles, drop weight styles, and machines to simulate high-rate loading.

With capacities of 0.7 - 27,847 J (0.5 - 20,536 ft-lbs), the Instron family of impact drop testers are designed for measuring the impact performance of raw material specimens and finished components.
With dynamic load capacity up to 100 kN, the 8800 family of VHS systems encompass a range of machines, actuator packages, and test fixtures for high-speed (up to 25 m/s) and high-strain rate tests on materials and components.
Instron pendulums are designed to meet the growing demand for accurate and repeatable impact testing on a wide range of materials. Used to determine the mechanical and physical properties of metals, polymers, composites, and finished products for both research and development (R&D) and quality control (QC), the pendulum family is capable of performing Charpy, Izod, and Tensile tests according to international standards.
